Project description
Faced with the recurrence and scale of flooding, worsened by insufficient drainage infrastructure, Senegal launched an urban development project focused on rainwater management and strengthening resilience in targeted zones. PROGEP implements both infrastructural and non-infrastructural solutions to reduce vulnerability to flooding and enhance risk management capacities.

Overall Objective :
- Reduce flood risks in peri-urban areas of Dakar and improve integrated planning and flood risk management capacities in selected Senegalese cities.
Specific Objectives :
- Improve integrated urban planning and management considering climate risks and sustainability.
- Strengthen investments and management of drainage infrastructure, community engagement, and environmental and social management.
- Strengthen the Contingent Emergency Response Component (CERC).
Expected results
- Flooding in peri-urban areas of Dakar is reduced.
- Integrated planning and flood risk management capacities are improved in selected Senegalese cities.
