Project description

This project aims to strengthen the industrial processing of maize in Senegal to produce food flours and animal feed. The objective is to reach a processing capacity of 500,000 tonnes of maize per year, both local and imported. The project therefore aims to strengthen the country’s food
sovereignty while generating local added value.

General Objective

Specific Objectives

Develop a modern processing network (large companies and SMEs) with a processing capacity of
500,000 tonnes of maize
Increase the production of animal feed and enriched flours for local consumption
Ensure the processing of local maize and improve producers’ incomes
Structure the maize value chain in Senegal by strengthening links between producers and
industrial operators

Expected results

Maize imports are reduced by 40% within five years
Processing capacity of local and imported maize is increased
Profitability of poultry and livestock value chains is improved thanks to low-cost local feed
New market opportunities are created for local producers, increasing their income by 30% on average
