Overall Objective :

• Develop and implement a shared national strategy to promote the emergence of initiatives for the development of religious tourism.

Specific Objectives :

• Foster a platform for exchanges between stakeholders of the tourism industry and spiritual and religious communities.
• Define the levers for developing Senegal’s religious heritage into tourism products.
• Establish appropriate marketing strategies to optimize the promotion of religious tourism toward target markets.
• Develop religious circuits in Senegal.
• Encourage investment in religious tourism: hotels, residences, tourist transport, services.

Expected results

• Senegal has its own model of religious tourism.
• A consensual roadmap for the development of religious tourism in Senegal is defined.
• The attractiveness of religious sites is strengthened in terms of accommodation and public services.
• Senegalese citizens are made aware of Senegal’s religious heritage.
• Key actors of religious tourism in Senegal are networked to support the structuring of the sector.
• Religious tourism circuits are created, and support infrastructures and services are implemented.
• The tourism offer is strengthened.
• Tourist flows to Senegal are increased.
