Project description

The Automotive Industrial Gamble Project aims to position Senegal on the rapidly growing African automotive market, stimulate economic growth, and enable massive job creation in high-demand sectors. Subregional and regional integration through the development of upstream and
downstream links in the automotive value chain will foster industrialisation and competitiveness. The project will allow Senegal to establish local units for assembling new vehicles.

Overall Objective

Make Senegal a hub for assembling new vehicles

Specific Objectives

Set up local manufacturing units (sub-assembly and/or local production) for key automotive
components using Senegal’s mineral and energy resources
• Establish centralised workshops for producing and manufacturing automotive equipment

Expected results

Local production of vehicles assembled in Senegal is increased
A specific legal, regulatory and fiscal framework to attract manufacturers is implemented
Attraction of foreign investment is strengthened
