Project description
Senegal’s natural capital is rapidly eroding due to strong human and economic pressures, inadequate management, and multiple externalities. The project aims to address governance and sustainable management issues in the fishing and forestry sectors. It will contribute to restoring and expanding the country’s blue and green natural capital to ensure sustainability, productivity, and resilience.

Overall Objective:
- Improve the management of fishery and forestry resources and access to economic opportunities in targeted areas.
Specific Objectives:
- Improve environmental and social risk management.
- Strengthen sustainable management of fisheries and forests.
- Increase the added value and efficiency of value chains.
Expected results
- The surface areas of forests under management plans have increased.
- The share of targeted buffer forest zones equipped with income-generating activities has increased.
- Targeted fishing zones subject to territorial use rights are monitored through a geolocation system.
- The proportion of fishery products landed and processed according to improved practices at supported sites has increased.
- Aquaculture production has increased.
