Project description

In a context where food demand is increasing, it is essential to ensure access to high-quality seeds to encourage the adoption of sustainable and productive agricultural practices. This begins with ensuring the conservation and protection of genetic core seeds, followed by the development of a five-year seed plan to produce and supply the necessary quantities of certified seeds for both rain-fed and irrigated crops.

Overall Objective:

Contribute to the restoration of the national seed capital by 2029.

Specific Objectives:

Produce and meet 100% of national needs in certified seeds for groundnut, cowpea (grain and forage), and sesame.
Produce and meet 100% of national needs in certified seeds for cereals (millet, sorghum, fonio, rice, and maize).
Produce and meet 50% of national needs in certified seeds for African-type horticultural crops (okra, chili pepper, jaxatu, cassava, sweet potato, watermelon, etc.).

Expected results

Certified seeds are available for priority crops.
Agricultural productivity increases by 20–30% for targeted crops.
Imports are reduced.
