Project description

The Agropole Centre is an industrial and commercial development programme aimed at strengthening processing, marketing, and value addition for agricultural and livestock products in the Central zone. It contributes to the emergence of an integrated agro-industrial ecosystem,
development of competitive value chains, job creation, and improved productivity.

General Objective

  • Strengthen the added value of agricultural products and reduce dependence on imports of agri-food products.

Specific Objectives

  • Create favorable conditions for private investment in the industrial processing of agricultural products, as well as in the supply of inputs and services;
  • Strengthen the capacities of actors in priority value chains to sustainably increase agricultural productivity.

Expected results

  • The additional agricultural production increased by 218,000 tons of peanuts, 279,000 tons of cereals (188,000 tons of millet, 58,000 tons of maize, and 33,000 tons of sorghum), and 30,000 tons of salt
  • The productivity of the agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries value chains increased from 0.8 to 1.8 tons/ha for cereals (excluding rice) and from 0.7 to 1.6 tons/ha for peanuts.
  • The industrial processing/packaging rate of agro-sylvo-pastoral and fisheries productions increased from 6% to 30% for cereals (excluding rice), from 15% to 50% for peanuts, and from 10% to 30% for salt.
