Project description

ZLECAF offers a strategic opportunity for Senegalese enterprises, with a market of 1.3 billion consumers and a growing middle class. The reduction of customs duties and trade costs could increase intra-African trade by 52% by 2040. The Enterprise Upgrading Programme under ZLECAF aims to improve the competitiveness of Senegalese enterprises, particularly in the agri-food, textile and digital technology sectors.

General Objective

  •  Increase productivity, compliance with international standards, and access to subregional and
    international markets

Specific Objectives

  •  Facilitate the marketing of agricultural products through access to modern storage warehouses
  •  Promote access to financing for actors in agricultural value chains

Expected results

  • 325 enterprises supported, including 75 in comprehensive upgrading and 250 in specific upgrading
  • 80% of supported enterprises benefit from financing
  • 70% adopt modern technologies and obtain appropriate certification
  • 50% of enterprises participate in ZLECAF trade missions and 30% establish new partnerships by 2028
  • At least 20,000 decent and sustainable jobs created (33% held by women)
