Project description
Senegal possesses strong potential for river–maritime transport, but navigation obstacles and insufficient infrastructure limit the movement of passengers and goods. The project strengthens and modernises national and subregional links by improving infrastructures, diversifying services and
ensuring safer navigation.

Overall Objective
- Promote the development of river–maritime traffic and trade by improving services, infrastructure
and navigation safety
Specific Objectives
- Strengthen links with new vessels and maritime stations in Goree, Casamance and Sine-Saloum
- Establish a Praia–Dakar link to boost subregional trade
- Relaunch water taxis in Dakar and Mbour
Expected results
- Dakar–Goree link strengthened with two new vessels
- Improved mobility in Casamance and Sine-Saloum
- Construction of pontoons, maritime stations and storage areas
- Improved navigation safety
- A training centre for operation and maintenance becomes operational
- Dakar–Praia link ensures two weekly rotations
- Water taxi service implemented through PPP
