Project description

This project aims to industrialise the processing of local cereals—millet, fonio and sorghum—to improve their competitiveness on local and subregional markets. The objective is to increase processing capacity to 325,000 tonnes per year, producing enriched flours, semolina and food products adapted to local consumption.

General Objective

  •  Industrialise the processing of local cereals

Specific Objectives

  •  Set up industrial units capable of processing 325,000 tonnes of local cereals per year
  • Develop finished products (flours, semolina, couscous) for local consumption and export
  •  Improve competitiveness and enhance local production to increase producers’ income
  •  Create 2,000 direct jobs and 10,000 indirect jobs

Expected results

  • Processing capacity for local cereals is improved
  • Local cereals increase their share in national consumption
  • Production of at least 200,000 tonnes of finished cereal-based products is ensured
